The review process
The review process is free of charge. Every manuscript submitted for possible publication in the APEM journal is first reviewed briefly by the editor for general suitability for the journal. Notification of successful submission is sent. After initial checking of paper by a special plagiarism detection tool, the manuscript is passed on to at least two referees. A double-blind peer review process ensures the content’s validity and relevance. Optionally, authors are invited to suggest up to three well-respected experts in the field discussed in the article who might act as reviewers. The review process can take up to eight weeks on average. Based on the comments of the referees, the editor will take a decision about the paper. The following decisions can be made: accepting the paper, reconsidering the paper after changes, or rejecting the paper. Accepted papers may not be offered elsewhere for publication. The editor may, in some circumstances, vary this process at his discretion.

Article Processing Charge (APC)
An APC fee (i.e., a publication fee) is charged only for accepted paper. Authors will be asked to pay an APC fee prior to the paper appearing in the journal. For each accepted paper the APC fee is currently 790 EUR + 22 % VAT (for the year 2023). Invoice will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author. The corresponding author is responsible for the APC fee payment. The APC fee is usually paid by an author's institution or research funder. Please note that there is no charge to submit a paper for review. In exceptional circumstances, the APC fee can be either reduced or waived.
Why does APEM journal impose Article Processing Charge (APC)?
All articles published by the APEM journal are accessible online immediately after publication. This means that anyone have, for free, unlimited acces to papers published in our journal. The open-access policy of the journal provides authors with several advantages, including increased visibility of the papers to a wide global audience. APEM journal does not receive any income from selling on-line versions of the journal or from charging "pay-per-view" fees. Therefore, APEM journal needs to defray its editorial and production costs by collecting APCs from authors' institutions or research funders.
What is covered by Article Processing Charge (APC)?
The APC covers the complete editorial and production costs including paper processing and necessary correspondence, final checking, corrections, proof reading, final formatting, printing, delivering of one hard copy of the journal to the corresponding author, sending journal's papers and/or hard copies of the journals to bibliographic services for indexing/abstracting, web page mastering and updating, cross-reference and cross-check linking, etc.

Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author and should be returned within 3 days of receipt. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors and minor changes.

Offprints
An e-offprint, i.e., a PDF version of the published article, will be available immediately after publication on the web-site of the journal. Additionally, one complete copy of the journal will be sent free of charge to the corresponding author of the published article.
